Book
The author is currently preparing a full textbook on microfluidics for
Springer
publishing. The book is intended for researchers and students of
microengineering and related fields. The book surveys all topics
presented on this website myFluidix.com in much greater detail. Over 1300
references are given to up-to-date publications in microfluidics and
related fields.
The book is split into two parts. After introducing the the topic of
microfluidics and the applications, the first part develops the
physico-chemical principles underlying microfluidics as well as
fundamwental operating principles. Topics covered
are
- characteristics of fluids
- thermodynamics
- transport phenomena
- hydrodynamics
- fluidic networks
- energy transport
- interfacial effects
- solutions of polar molecules
- microhydrodynamics
- flow control
- pumping techniques.
The second part focuses on the implementation of microfluidic
components for various fields of application:
- sensors
- inkjet
- liquid handling
- microarrays
- analytical chips
- microreactors
- particle-laden fluids.
